Meet all our Kahlúa products. From salted caramel to chili chocolate, we have lots of unexpected and delicious Kahlúa flavors to explore.
Made with 100% Arabica coffee beans and rum, Kahlúa coffee liqueur is one of the main ingredients in many of the world’s favorite cocktails. Whether it’s the White Russian, Black Russian, Mudslide, or the cocktail du jour, the Espresso Martini! Plus many more classics, old and new.
Brunch, lunch, evening drinks, or whenever, Kahlúa helps turn the average into the extraordinary—and any coffee into a delicious coffee cocktail.
Born in Mexico in 1936, Kahlúa comes steeped in history, with a rich and colorful heritage. Read more about our history here.
It takes up to 7 years to produce a bottle of Kahlúa. Here’s why:
Growing:
It can take 6 of those years to get the perfect coffee beans for our coffee liqueur. The coffee cherries are grown in the shade, which takes a lot longer than growing them in the sun, and this slow-ripening process yields more complex, nuanced flavors for the delicious coffee beans within the cherries.
Harvesting:
Once the beautiful, deep, dark red coffee cherries are ready, it’s time to rip them apart to harvest the coffee beans within.
Drying & Resting:
Once the beans are removed, they undergo a 6-month drying and resting process in huge burlap bags. (We know, waiting for something good is exhausting!)
Distilling:
While all the coffee stuff is great, what about the spirits in Kahlúa? Our Rum is made from sugarcane, from which the juice is extracted, boiled and mixed with water. Once we’ve got the alcohol, it’s time for the distillation process. Kahlúa is distilled to perfection!
Roasting And Blending:
Finally, the time has arrived for roasting and distilling. The beautiful beans and delectable rum spirits meet in our distillery, where they rest together for 4 weeks. After these weeks of old friends catching up, it’s time to bottle and seal the goodness of Kahlúa.
People say that good things come to those who wait. We couldn’t agree more.
Kahlúa Original boasts the deep, rich flavor of real black coffee, roasted chestnut and indulgent sweet butter.
This taste profile is blended with hints of vanilla, chocolate, and exotic spices. Sounds delicious, right? We think so.
Kahlúa doesn’t need to be refrigerated. But we strongly recommend storing it in a cool, dry place once it’s opened, and out of direct sunlight (whether open or not). This ensures the best shelf life and longevity of the product.
For Kahlúa Original, we recommend a shelf life of 4 years (unopened). While an unopened product will remain good for many more years beyond that, the strength of the coffee does fade over time—so you may not get the full flavor impact. If, say, you receive an old bottle of Kahlúa as a gift, you should make sure it has never been opened or tampered with.
Unopened Kahlúa Flavors have a recommended shelf life of 2 years, and unopened Kahlúa RTDs have a recommended shelf life of 1 year.

Kahlúa can be enjoyed on the rocks (try a White Russian), over ice cream (with an Affogato Martini), mixed within a hot drink (enjoy a Kahlúa Coffee or Kahlúa Hot Cocoa), or used within baking recipes. You can also try mixing up one of our most popular recipes, the classic Espresso Martini.

Kahlúa is made with 100% Arabica coffee beans and rum. These authentic ingredients give it a smooth and distinct coffee flavor, perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness for a delicious taste experience (if we do say so ourselves.)
Yep. Kahlúa contains about 100 ppm caffeine, which means about 100 ml/ liter of product. So, a standard 1.5 oz serving of Kahlúa contains about 5 mg of caffeine.
Just to put it in perspective, an 8 oz brewed coffee can contain about 200 mg of caffeine.
No, Kahlúa is not a Kosher certified product.
No, Kahlúa Original, Kahlúa Flavors and Kahlúa Ready-To-Drink (RTDs) are not acceptable for a vegan or vegetarian diet. We do not add animal derivatives into our products; however, one of our sugar suppliers uses a process that is not considered vegan-friendly. While this is a common practice in the sugar industry, it unfortunately also means we are unable to call Kahlúa suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet.

We recommend only making purchases from reputable retailers. To verify authenticity, look for clear, high-quality printing on labels. If the label is low-quality, askew, or has errors, it may not be an authentic bottle.
Make sure the seal is intact. Kahlúa should not have any debris, give off a strange smell, or be an unusual color – if these signs are present, do not drink it.
