INGREDIENTS

15 ml Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur

30 ml Sugar 

45 ml Instant Coffee 

15 ml Hot Water 

90 ml Milk

1 Additional Splash Kahlúa

Ice Cubes

0.5 parts Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur

1 part Sugar 

1.5 parts Instant Coffee 

0.5 parts Hot Water 

3 parts Milk

1 Additional Splash Kahlúa

Ice Cubes

0.5 oz Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur

1 oz Sugar 

1.5 oz Instant Coffee 

0.5 oz Hot Water 

3 oz Milk

1 Additional Splash Kahlúa

HOW TO MAKE

  1. Add the 1½ tablespoons of Kahlúa, instant coffee, sugar and hot water into a bowl.

  2. Mix using an electric whisk until fluffy.

  3. Separately, fill two glasses with ice and fill to ¾ with your choice of milk.

  4. Add a splash of Kahlúa to the milk.

  5. Top off with the Kahlúa Dalgona Coffee foam.

TOOLS YOU’LL NEED

Electric Whisk 

We recommend using an electric whisk to achieve the perfect fluffy texture for the foam. If you don’t have one, a hand whisk or even a milk frother can do the trick, it just takes a bit more elbow grease. 

Mixing Bowl

Use a medium-sized mixing bowl to combine your coffee, sugar, hot water, and Kahlúa. If you’re short on bowls, a large mug or jug will work, long as it’s deep enough to prevent splashes. 

Measuring Spoons and jigger 

We suggest using measuring spoons to ensure you get the right amount of ingredients. In a pinch, a regular teaspoon and tablespoon can be used for rough measurements. Pro tip: you can also use a 30 ml / 1 oz shot glass for measuring. 

Glassware 

Choose your favorite glasses for serving the Kahlúa Dalgona Coffee. We recommend clear glasses to showcase the beautiful layers of milk and coffee foam. If you prefer mugs, they’ll work just as well, but we don’t think they’re as pretty. 

Our Top Tips for Creating the Perfect Dalgona Coffee with Kahlúa

1. Choose Quality Instant Coffee 

The better the coffee, the better the flavor. We suggest using high-quality instant coffee for a richer taste. Our tip: experiment with different brands to find your favorite. 

2. Adjust Sweetness to Taste

While the recipe calls for two teaspoons of sugar, feel free to tweak it to suit your taste. If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the sugar, or add a touch more for a sweeter treat.

3. Use Cold Milk

For best results, we recommend chilling your milk beforehand. Here’s a pro tip: try using different types of milk, like almond or oat, for a unique dairy-free twist. 

4. Perfect Your Whisking Technique 

Whisk until the mixture forms stiff peaks. Our tip: start slow and gradually increase speed to avoid splashes. If using a hand whisk, patience is key—whisk vigorously for a few minutes.

5. Layer with A Spoon 

When adding the coffee foam, gently spoon it over the milk to preserve the beautiful layers. We suggest using the back of the spoon for a smooth finish.

6. Experiment with Garnishes 

For an extra touch of extravagance, we suggest garnishing with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a few coffee beans. We also think a dash of cinnamon adds a cozy warmth.
